Bio
It’s April of 1986. I am exactly three months from being born…but I’m already causing some serious damage (a level 7 damage on the International Nuclear Event Scale, to be exact!). KAPOW! and a colossal mushroom cloud sprouts up from the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl, Ukraine. It casts its warm, radioactive shade on the neighboring country — Romania, my home. Now, that’s what I call an entrance with a bang!
The first few years of my life were that of a typical toddler growing up in a post-communist and (almost) post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe. We had no Nintendos…or televisions for that matter. So…us, children, would run around barefoot, play hide-and-seek, and fantasize about becoming doctors or astronauts.
However, I soon turned 6 and realized that wanting to be a doctor was simply not that big of a goal in life. So I went for the next great purpose I could envision — world domination! Nevertheless, one small detail intervened between me and my grandiose dream. If I were to conquer the world, I’d have to start right at the center of it…and needless to explain that the center was nowhere near Bucharest, Romania! It was then that I knew I’d have to move to the United States.
Countless scholastic accolades, 12 years, 6 foreign languages and one plane ticket later, I was landing on the Dulles Airport, in Washington, DC. I had received a Presidential Scholarship from the American University School of Communication. And here I was, ready to conquer the world. How, exactly? Why, by spinning! Spin what? Public opinion, of course! So Public Communication and Marketing it was.
After graduating with Honors from AU, I searched for a job that would challenge me in a different way, every day. With my snappy ideas, a knack for all-things-tech and an ardent passion for electronic music, I scored a position as the sole public relations representative for Mixed In Key, a DJ software company. And challenging it was. I practiced everything — from sending out press releases and responding to blog posts in Spanish, to conceptualizing user interfaces and even editing models’ skin! And I got to chat with some of the world’s most renowned DJs — every technohead’s dream (aside from conquering the world).
But most importantly, working at Mixed In Key helped me uncover an inclination for design. My new-found passion brought me to New York’s School of Visual Arts. Currently, I’m undergoing a career concentration program in Advertising at SVA, in preparation for a masters in Branding.
As for my goal to conquer the world? Not quite there yet, but well on my way. Stick around!
Mwuuahhahaha…
